The Fall 2026 meeting of the American Musicological Society, Southwest Chapter will be held at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX on October 24, 2026. All music scholars are invited to submit proposals for presentations on any topic related to music history, music history pedagogy, academic administration, music librarianship, public musicology, or music and the digital humanities. Research papers are scheduled for 20 minutes of presentation and 10 minutes of questions and discussion; other formats of varying lengths will be considered, as indicated in the application form. AMS Southwest encourages participation by scholars at all levels, and particularly participation by graduate students and co-authored presentations.
Guidelines for Submission
Abstracts should include a precise statement of the problem, methodological framework, finding, and implications for specific fields of study. Abstracts must not exceed 250 words. Proposals should be submitted using this submission link no later than September 15, 2026:
The AMS bylaws stipulate that one must be a member of the national organization in order to be a member of a chapter. Hence, all presenters must be members of the chapter and society. You can join the chapter and society, renew your membership, and pay Southwest Chapter dues on the AMS website.
